About the Faith 5K Walk/Run

The idea of the Faith 5K Walk/Run was originally conceived by the Rev. David Sonnenberg of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gaithersburg, MD in early 2008 (??). Pastor Dave then assembled a Planning Team that helps organize every aspect of this event. Without the hard work and dedication of the Planning Team this event would not exist.

The Faith 5K is an intergenerational event that consists of much more than just a race. It is an afternoon that is jam-packed with an exciting race, fun games, delicious food, and great fellowship among friends, both old and new. The event has three main focuses: to promote physical health and wellbeing in the spiritual community, including encouraging first-time runners and walkers to participate; to raise money for a worthy cause (in this first year it will be Manna Food Center); and to provide the faith community with an opportunity to come together and host a race where everyone is a winner.

This first annual Faith 5K event will be held in April 2010 (exact date TBD) at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD. This year's event will benefit Manna Food Center of Montgomery County, MD.
